"How many more tragedies need to happen before the United States joins the modern world in banning assault weapons?"
"There is no reason anyone needs to be able to own a rapid-fire weapon capable of killing dozens of people. Weapons for self-defense and for hunting are one thing, but weapons made for the battlefield have no place in people’s homes."
"The Second Amendment was written in a time before semi-automatics. Banning assault weapons is a common-sense way to curb gun violence in America, and I don’t think anyone will feel that their rights are being seriously trampled on." ... |

| First of all the 2nd Amendment is not hardware oriented. It is intended to insure that government does not arbitrarily take away our God given natural right to arms and self defense. Secondly, what the hell is an assualt weapon? Baseball bat, knife, broken bottle, large rock, a piece of pipe or a 2x4? Military weapons such as the AR-15 or the AR-10 have select fire capability. Civilian clones do not. A semi-auto AR-15 will not fire 100 rds in 3 seconds. In fact, neither will a military AR-15. If you persist in trying to demonize a particular weapon please learn the nomenclature and function of the weapon you are bloviating about. In closing, please note that if guns cause crime all mine are defective. |

| One other thing I forgot to mention is that you cannot fire a semi-automatic weapon any faster than you can fire a revolver. Assuming that you know how to operate either of them. |
